Wayward swan is back home ASHLAND -- A swan found wandering on Rapp Road in Talent Saturday has found its way home. Ashland Parks and Recreation Department irrigation specialist Eric Setterberg said the swan's owners picked it up after seeing a story about it on television news this week. The swan had been held in a pen at Lithia Park after residents of Parkside Apartments in Talent found it and took it to the Ashland park, where two swans already live. Parkside resident Kristine Hall, one of those involved, said she and Parkside resident James Greathouse only intended to help the lost swan they found at the apartment complex Sunday morning. "It was in the playground area at the (apartment) complex," she said, and the two feared it would be injured. They loaded the swan into a vehicle and took it to the park, where Hall says they asked an Ashland parks officer for help. The officer directed them to take it to an animal holding pen, Hall said. Setterberg said the bird was able to escape from its home on Rapp Lane because it hadn't been surgically prevented from flying. "It had its wings clipped but it could fly," said Setterberg.
