He was born June 21, 1930 in Centralia, Wash. to Willis and Delores Fasel. Robert graduated from Medford Sr. High School in 1948. The following spring he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization to go to Spring Training in Merced, Calif. He suffered a foot injury and was to return the following year. He moved back to Medford and took a job with McCloud River Lumber Co. in McCloud, Calif. That year he learned to grade lumber and taught classes in No. California and So. Oregon. In 1949 he married Barbara Battjer (Bobbie) in Reno, Nev., they were blessed with four children. Mr. Fasel was in the lumber industry for over 50 years. Moving back to Medford in 1949 he began working in lumber sales at DeVoe Lumber Co. and Forest Glen Lumber Co. then started work at Double Dee Lumber Co. becoming part owner. He was an avid golfer and played in the Southern Oregon Golf Tournaments many years. He and Bobbie traveled extensively after he retired in 1986. His favorite activities were going fishing with friends and grandchildren and watching grandchildren play sports. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; daughter, Tricia (David); sons, Tom, Tim, and Terry (Lisa); nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Maurer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Delores Fasel and two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Siskiyou Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to St. Marks Food Pantry, 426 W. 6th St. Medford, Ore. 97504.
