Alzheimer's patient found dead near Crescent Lake An Alzheimer's patient who has been missing since last month was found dead by mushroom pickers near Crescent Lake in Klamath County. William R. Lacey, 70, of Milwaukie, apparently fell, striking his head, which caused or contributed to his death, said Klamath County sheriff's deputies. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Lacey is believed to have walked away from a cabin in northern Klamath County on Sept. 25. Volunteers and Klamath County sheriff's search and rescue teams failed to find the elderly man. About 7 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's deputies got a call from a group of mushroom hunters who found a body about four miles north of the cabin next to a downed tree in a heavily wooded area. Sheriff's detectives went out Wednesday night, but couldn't find the scene until Thursday. They confirmed the body was Lacey's. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
