Driving a 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup, Thomas A. Tibbets pulled in front of an eastbound Freightliner semi driven by Ronald J. Knight about 1:25 p.m. Wednesday. Tibbets died at the scene as a result of crash injuries, Oregon State Police Sgt. Jeff Proulx said. Lake Creek Fire District, Oregon Department of Transportation, Mercy Flights and Rogue Valley Funeral Alternative responded to the crash site along with Oregon State Police, Proulx said. Police continue to investigate the crash, but preliminary investigations indicate no criminal charges are expected, he said.
