Mail Tribune 100, Dec. 27, 1922 By Alissa Corman Dec 27, 2022 12:00 AM A A News from 100 years ago The following news items were drawn from the archives of the Mail Tribune 100 years ago Dec. 27, 1922 FLORENCE POOL RESIGNS OFFICE ON JANUARY 1ST The news will be received with much regret in this city and throughout the county that Miss Florence Pool, after three years service as county home demonstration agent, has resigned on account of her health, to cease the duties of the office on January 1st. Her successor, Miss Grayce Teich, an experienced home demonstration agent, is already here and will put in the week with Miss Pool in preparing to assume charge. While loathe to part with so old a tried friend as Miss Pool it is certain that the Jackson County public will receive with open arms Miss Teich, who comes very highly recommended and is far from being a novice in home demonstration work. Miss Teich’s experience in home demonstration work was obtained in Arizona. She took graduate courses at Iowa State college at Ames, Iowa, Columbia college, New York, and has just recently taken a special course in such work at the O. A. C. Miss Pool has not yet definitely announced her plans for the future, but it is understood that she will engage in a business venture temporarily at least. She has been one of the pillars of strength in the large and successful farm bureau work during her long service in this county, and has made uncountable friends by this work and other labors in the interest of the public. Through her hard and earnest work during this period her health has not been robust, but she gave to her position her best endeavors, until the situation had reached the stage that a change of duties from the daily routine of three years past seemed imperative for her to regain full strength and vigor. Miss Pool stated today that while she will cease to have active charge of the home demonstration office on January 1st, her interest in that office and its work would still be retained and she will always be willing to give her successor her best efforts and advice. She urges that Miss Teich be accorded the same kindly interest and hearty cooperation that she has always met with. Miss Pool has had six years without cessation in home demonstration work, most of it pioneering in that line, in North Dakota, Montana and in Jackson County. — Alissa Corman; [email protected]
