August 2016 Restaurant Inspections Sep 16, 2016 12:00 AM A A Jackson County health officials inspected 77 restaurants in August, and 27 earned perfect scores of 100. Two, Lost Creek Marina and New Far East, dropped below the failure mark of 70 points. Lost Creek Marina got a score of 62. Violations included blocked access to the hand-washing station, no soap at the hand-washing station, raw eggs stored above a produce prep table, a dishwasher with too low a concentration of chlorine, and unclean cutter boards and shake-mixer heads. Priority issues were found to be corrected at two September inspections, which among other things found the shake mixer heads visibly clean and proper chlorine levels in the dishwasher. New Far East got a score of 65 and failed its reinspection twice. Inspectors found three refrigerators running too warm, no probe thermometer available in the kitchen, knives and dishes that had been stored as clean but contained food particles, an employee bathroom lacking paper towels and no covered trash receptacle in the women's restroom. Two August re-inspections found one of the three refrigerators still outside compliance, wiping cloths stored in too diluted of a bleach solution and unclean kitchen knives and a rice cooker. These include: Foods maintained at improper temperatures, improperly cooled or reheated; not properly protected from contamination, from unapproved origins, unsafe, adulterated or not honestly presented; not date-marked or discarded upon expiration; raw animal foods improperly cooked; presence of rodents or insects; inadequate personal hygiene; failure to clean and sanitize food equipment; lack of an approved water system; toxic chemicals or cleansers not properly stored, used or labeled.
