Pauline Evelyn McCormack Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Aug. 16, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Aug. 16, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News A graveside service for Pauline Evelyn McCormack will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 at the Jacksonville Cemetery. Polly, 96, passed away a week ago at Kinsington Place, a memory care home, in Grants Pass, Ore. She was born December 17, 1918 in Gage, Okla. and after a short stay in California, her family returned to Oklahoma. The family moved often during the Depression, the storms of the Dust Bowl wreaking havoc on crops. The bright spot in Polly's life during that time was school, with the friendships and the learning. Sadly the constant moves terminated new-found friendships and left her frustrated. She was living in Hereford, Texas when she met Woodrow McCormack, a lanky hard-working man who, with his brother, provided the music for church dances on weekends, which is where they met. They were married February 1, 1940 in Clovis, N.M. Family circumstances took them to California for a short time before they moved to Oregon and Polly found all the things she wanted in life … her own house, built by her husband, family, ground that would actually grow things, lasting friendships and strong christian fellowship. Polly and Woody lived in Jacksonville, Ore. for 40 years, before spending 10 years on, appropriately, Happy Valley Drive in Medford, Ore. and then for the last 20 years in Grants Pass, Ore. where Woody passed away in 2002. Polly was preceded in death by Woody, her husband of 62 years (2002), and her youngest son, Charles Lee, who passed away in 2005. She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Milligan of Eugene, Ore. and Marge Haggard in Los Alamitos, Calif.; a son, Jim, of La Mirada, Calif.; and a daughter, Kathy Eastwood, of Grants Pass, Ore. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to your favorite charity in Polly's name.
