Tow trucks have duty on debris Can somebody please tell me who is responsible for the cleanup of debris and especially the glass left on the road after a motor vehicle accident? Time and time again, I see tow trucks respond to an accident, haul the disabled vehicle away, leaving the glass where it fell. -- Deborah P., Gold Hill When tow trucks are called to a scene, Deborah, it is that company's responsibility to clean debris and glass from the road, an Oregon State Police staff member said. However, if no towing company is notified, the cleanup falls to the presiding road department, such as Jackson County Roads, the Oregon Department of Transportation or city road departments.
