Child dies in Galls Creek Road crash Wednesday Nov 16, 2016 at 12:54 PM Nov 16, 2016 at 4:43 PM An 11-year-old girl died in a car crash on Galls Creek Road Wednesday morning. The girl, whose name was not released, was a student at Patrick Elementary School in Gold Hill, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. The crash happened at about 7:39 a.m. about one mile up Galls Creek Road from Gold Hill. A white Chevrolet Tahoe reportedly left the road and traveled down an embankment, coming to a stop on its top in a shallow creek. Witnesses called 911 and attempted to help the driver, the girl's mother, and the girl out of the vehicle. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff's detectives, along with investigators from the Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team, are still investigating the cause of the crash.
