Carol Ann Snider MailTribune.com Writer Posted Sep. 10, 2014 @ 2:00 am Posted Sep. 10, 2014 @ 2:00 am » Social News On September 7, 2014 Carol Ann Snider ended a beautiful life far too soon after a brief and unexpected illness. She was born February 14, 1948 in Medford. She was the youngest of three daughters of Albert and Louise Hueners and grew up a hardworking farm girl on the family's Crater View Ranch near Jacksonville. Both on-tractor and on-foot, much of her childhood was spent performing the many necessary tasks involved with the farm lifestyle. Tending to the dairy cows, sheep, and family animals, she developed a level of compassion and strength that never ceased to impact the lives of every creature within her presence. After graduating from what was then Southern Oregon College, she worked for many years as a very skilled and efficient bookkeeper, bringing joy to her co-workers and the customers of several Medford businesses. In 1973 she married Doug Snider. Even though the Snider family had been in the dairy business for many years and purchased milk from the Hueners family, Doug and Carol did not meet until a blind date brought them together. Last November, they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in Yachats, Oregon, where they had spent their honeymoon. Carol was truly beloved. Her entire life was about giving and she never hesitated to share her warmth and affection with others. Regardless of inconvenience to herself, she always ensured that anyone around her was as comfortable as possible. She didn't require recognition or praise to maintain such devotion. She simply loved people. Her passion, charm, and natural selflessness were witnessed by her family, her friends, all those whom she met during her brief stay here on Earth. The countless number of people who now recognize her name, her face, and her voice gives testament to her unique ability to strike up conversation with any person and positively impact their lives. People who didn't even know her name will sorely miss her kind and welcoming presence. Carol loved animals including her pets and the wildlife that frequently visited her yard. Just like people, the deer, foxes, raccoons, and an occasional bear seemed to sense that she was a special person. Carol loved spending time with Doug, her children and her friends at Crater View Ranch which now includes 80 acres of vineyards. She had a sincere and contagious laugh to go along with the marvelous sense of humor she used to help her family through life's difficult situations. Doug and Carol had three sons, Ryan, Sean, and Todd who was lost at birth. Carol was the loving grandmother of Zachary Snider and Joshua Snider. Her family was always her highest priority and her unconditional love and strength carried her family through every adversity. When her first son Ryan was born three months prematurely, she became the amazing and heroic mother her family came to know. She managed to express breast milk while Ryan was in the NICU. By the time Ryan came home, Carol was providing nourishment to several of the premature infants needing breast milk. When her second son Sean was seriously injured his freshman year in college, she devoted all her strength to his recovery. Tending to his needs night and day, she acted as nurse, therapist and beacon of hope. Her determination and constant vigilance to all his needs inspired her family and Sean to persevere and overcome such seemingly insurmountable obstacles were undoubtedly the reasons not only for Sean's recovery, but for maintaining the health and happiness of her family during difficult times. When her third son Todd was stillborn she remained a strong and loving mother for a child who never took a breath. She loved him like her other sons and must now be finally enjoying his nearness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Todd, and her niece Renee Snider. She is survived by her sisters Jan Murphy (Mike) and Judy Gurule. She will be missed by her sisters-in-law Mary Ann Edelstein (Dan), Suzy Snider, brother-in-law John Snider (Candy), daughter-in-law Jaime Snider, nephews Eric Edelstein and Dr. Chris Murphy, and nieces Robin Snider and Laura Edelstein. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 Friday, September 12, 2014 in the chapel at Siskiyou Memorial Park. Pastor Bob Larson, who performed Carol and Doug's wedding ceremony, will officiate. Her family will gather privately at her gravesite in the Jacksonville Cemetery. A Mass is being said in her memory at the church of San Lorenzo, the cathedral in Alba, Italy where she had so many dear friends.
