SOU softball team still looking for first win LAGRANDE - Southern Oregon University is still looking for its first Cascade Conference softball victory after a 3-1 loss at Eastern Oregon Thursday. The Raiders dropped to 0-4 in conference play and 16-14 overall. The Raiders, who hadn't scored in the first inning of its three previous conference games, accepted coach James Gravelle's challenge to score early. Latisha Inget singled to left to get the Raiders going in the first inning. Inget advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Megan Humann's sacrifice bunt when there was a throwing error at first. "We came out hitting the ball," said Gravelle. "We made contact all day but couldn't find a gap." SOU pitcher Brandi Brown (15-10) didn't allow an earned run and struck out seven in six innings. Brown also had three of the Raiders' five hits. "We have to stop making errors," said Gravelle. "We're beating ourselves right now."
