Jacob Eli Gettle, 42, of the 2800 block of Indian Creek Road, has been charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and harassment in Jackson County Circuit Court. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $100,000 bail. According to a probable cause affidavit, Gettle and his wife, relatives and at least one family friend were camping July 3 near U.S. Forest Service Road 32 north of Shady Cove. Gettle allegedly attacked his wife, punching her multiple times in the head and face. His wife said she had no idea what provoked the attack, while Gettle allegedly told the Jackson County Sheriff's Department he "just had enough of her and lost it," the affidavit said. Her jaw will require surgery in Portland to repair the damage, the affidavit said. Gettle's past convictions include driving under the influence of intoxicants, harassment, first-degree aggravated theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and numerous counts of driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured.
