Valley's air remains OK Smoke from the forest fire near Brookings may be making the Rogue Valley air look like Los Angeles on a bad air day, but pollution remains in the moderate range. That's the word from specialists at the Department of Environmental Quality office in Medford, who continue to monitor the pollution levels. The air pollution index remained in the moderate range late Tuesday afternoon in Medford, officials said. The cause of the smoke is the 2,000-acre Repeater Fire in the Siskiyou National Forest.
