UPDATED: Klamath County deputy shot; suspect sought A Klamath County sheriff's deputy who was shot and critically injured during a traffic stop late this morning has been flown to Oregon Health & Science University Hospital while authorities in Southern Oregon continue to search for the shooter. Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge says authorities are interviewing many people and looking for a person of interest — William Jack Parkerson of Klamath Falls. The 30-year-old Parkerson is 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. He's bald and has the word "Norte" tattooed on his chest and "Under no Law/United Nortenos Locos" tattooed on his abdomen. The name of the injured deputy hasn't been released yet, but a news release from Patridge said his condition was stable and he had been transferred to the Portland teaching hospital that specializes in head trauma. Authorities have yet to reveal many details of the incident, such as why the deputy stopped the vehicle on Bisbee Street in Klamath Falls shortly before noon today. — Staff and wire reports 2:16 p.m. A Klamath County sheriff's deputy was shot in the face and side during a traffic stop late this morning, and police are looking for the suspect. Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge says the suspect is believed to be driving a black 1989 Jeep Cherokee, with the Oregon license plate ZFQ 270. The wounded deputy was taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center. Patridge described his condition as stable. Hospital spokesman Tom Hottman says the deputy was expected to undergo surgery.
