Joshua G. Gibson, 27, of Costa Mesa, Calif., was arrested Monday by local police there on a warrant issued by the Oregon State Police, according to the Orange County Register. The newspaper said Gibson was taken into custody without incident at an apartment complex and was being held in a jail there in lieu of $200,000 bail. OSP previously identified Gibson as the driver of a Buick sedan that crashed head-on Sept. 10 into a pickup truck on the Redwood Highway while trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone between Cave Junction and Kerby. Three passengers in the car, all from Costa Mesa, were killed in the wreck. They were Claire Honsaker, 25, Steve E. Stinson, 28, and Christopher T. Burke, 27. Gibson and a fourth passenger, 21-year-old Kean Krause, were seriously injured but survived. The driver of the pickup truck, 44-year-old Mike Nolan of Cave Junction, escaped serious injury. OSP previously said alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash in addition to the illegal pass. The newspaper said Burke and Stinson were active in Orange County's electronic music scene and were co-owners of Divine Rewind Events, based in Newport Beach. It was not clear where they were heading at the time of the crash. Burke's brother told the Daily Pilot of Costa Mesa that his brother dreamed of living off the grid and farming organically.
