The tip led Medford police to open an investigation against Hagey, which culminated with a sting in which the informant allegedly sold 1.75 grams of methamphetamine to Hagey for $60 at a Purple Parrot outlet in the Medford Center. At about 9 p.m., police moved in to arrest Hagey, who allegedly dropped the baggie of meth onto the ground, according to a search warrant affidavit filed with Jackson County Circuit Court. Hagey, 48, faces a felony charge of methamphetamine possession and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was cited and released. Police took Hagey's badge, his Samsung smartphone and another cellphone they found in Hagey's right sock. An hour and a half later, and armed with a search warrant, police seized multiple guns and methamphetamine they allegedly found at Hagey's home in the 200 block of Dunthorpe Drive, Medford. A search warrant return filed by Oregon State Police says officers found meth paraphernalia and two plastic baggies of a crystal substance that tested positive for meth. Police also took cellphones, tablets, a laptop and ammunition. Among the guns seized were two Derringers, a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun, a 7.65-millimeter Walther handgun, a Browning Buck Mark pistol, a 9 mm Glock 17 and a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun, the return shows. From Hagey's black 2010 Dodge Challenger, police took a Kahr Arms 9 mm pistol, the return shows. From Hagey's office, police seized miscellaneous papers, a computer tower, a black bag with multiple cellphones, an HP laptop, four smartphones and a thumb drive, according to the return. Jackson County Administrator Danny Jordan placed Hagey on paid administrative leave on Jan. 4, according to county records obtained by the Mail Tribune. Hagey's hourly wage is $64.91, according to the document. As director of Community Justice, Hagey oversees adult probation and parole, juvenile probation, the Juvenile Detention facility and the Community Justice Transition Center in Talent. Medford police began investigating Hagey on Dec. 23 after an informant claimed Hagey had been buying small amounts of meth from the informant at locations around Medford, including a Flamingo's, Purple Parrot and Shari's. The informant assisted police in exchange for consideration on pending felony charges, according to the search warrant affidavit. The informant's phone had a contact of "Shane H" with a phone number matching the cell number Medford officers had for Hagey. The informant showed police a Dec. 21 text message from Hagey requesting the informant meet him at Flamingo's on Roberts Road, where the informant allegedly sold him 1.75 grams of meth for $60. Police allegedly verified the informant's claim by checking video surveillance at the Flamingo's, according to the affidavit. The informant met with Hagey again on Dec. 24 at the Medford Shari's to allegedly sell him another 1.75 grams of meth, according to the affidavit. The informant sent Hagey a text on Dec. 30 asking whether he needed anything, and Hagey replied he wanted to meet later that day. Medford officers provided the informant with 1.75 grams of meth that was slated to be destroyed.
