1 motorist killed, another injured in Josephine County crash By Mail Tribune staff Updated: May 24, 2022 11:04 AM A A A resident of Brazil has died following a crash less than two miles north of Selma. Jesse Kozechen, 29, of Brazil, died on Highway 199 after swerving into oncoming traffic and crashing the Volkswagen Beetle he was driving into a Ford Escape SUV in the oncoming lane about 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to a release issued Tuesday morning from Oregon State Police. The crash closed the highway for two hours. Kozechen had swerved to avoid traffic slowing for a turning vehicle, but over-corrected and collided with a Ford Escape occupied by Eileen Huss, 62, of Selma and a two-year-old passenger. Kozechen was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Huss was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, and Huss’ two-year-old passenger was uninjured, according to Oregon State Police
