Volunteers plan to pack 200,000 meals for starving children Saturday Thursday Nov 16, 2017 at 5:01 PM Nov 16, 2017 at 5:04 PM Nearly 1,000 volunteers are expected to gather Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Medford to feed the hungry. Rogue Valley Mobilepack coordinators Jason and Jessi Licato have teamed up with the Christian nonprofit organization Feed My Starving Children for their second annual Rogue Valley Mobilepack from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the church, 649 Crater Lake Ave. Nearly 1,000 volunteers comprising families, businesses, teams, church groups and other organizations will be hand-packing over 200,000 meals called "Manna Packs" to send to starving children. Each meal has key components that target the needs of malnourished children. Last year over 500 volunteers hand-packed 124,000 meals, far surpassing their goal of 100,000. This year there will be close to a thousand volunteers with a goal of 202,000 meals. In addition to packing meals, the Licatos encourage volunteers to bring canned food and non-perishable items to benefit ACCESS and the local community.
