Letters to the Editor, May 21 Sunday May 21, 2017 at 2:00 AM May 22, 2017 at 6:56 AM Republican traitors Hidden by the mass hysteria of the Comey firing, traitor Republicans John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins voted to maintain a rule requiring oil and gas drillers on federal land "capture" any methane that escapes during drilling. That Obama rule makes it difficult if not impossible to drill on federal land, virtually prohibiting oil and gas drilling. I want to know how much money Graham, McCain and Collins get from Saudi Arabia and the other oil-producing foreign nations, because there was no American good reason to maintain that rule. It further inhibits our ability to become energy-independent, resulting in our continued reliance on oil from nations that hate us, and it prevents jobs being created here in the USA. Those of us paying attention know that these three Republican traitors have almost consistently opposed President Trump's agenda. Collins is a known unborn baby killer advocate, and I can't figure out what the hell McCain and Graham even want. Clearly these are Republicans that need to be replaced during their next primary, and I hope Donald trump actively campaigns against them in favor of more traditional conservatives who will act in our best interest instead of foreign interests. Carl F. Worden Eagle Point Solar vs farming Jeers to the solar farm in its replacement of a class I farm. I guess mechanized soils are replacing our best soils in the valley. Let’s increase the value added of agriculture soils and reduce non-agriculture soils. Porter Lombard Medford Trump's mendacity Almost daily, we learn of Trumpian antics which leave us astonished at his mendacity and incompetence as he tries to suppress the real facts and true motivation behind his actions. Lately, he ineptly blamed Obama for giving earlier security clearance to Mike Flynn before Trump selected him for his NSA (even though both Obama and Sally Yates warned Trump that Flynn was toxic). And now we are to believe that Trump fired FBI Director Comey because he was too tough on Hillary! Please! While Comey may have erred, Trump heaped praise on him for criticizing Hillary during the campaign. Oh, wait, his story is changing again! Through the distorted prism of his narcissism and impulsiveness, Trump sees things without considering nuance such as benefit to country or consequences of his actions. It’s just about Trump and his need to garner the limelight and appear powerful and decisive. During the Clinton administration, a fictional movie, “Wag the Dog,” depicted a president under fire who decided to start a (fake?) war to distract his critics. Let’s hope fiction doesn't become reality, but given Trump’s personality disorder, it's not unimaginable. We need a special prosecutor, and it may be time to consider impeachment. Bruce and Chrystine Van Zee Medford Charge makes no sense Are they seriously charging a woman who was in an accident that took the life of her only daughter with a Measure 11 sentence? This woman is serving a life-long sentence knowing that she was the cause of her daughters death! How can it be that this woman will be taken away from her surviving sons? They lose their sister and now their mother? This doesn't make any sense to me knowing real criminals are running rampant in Medford. With the separation of families so prevalent in this day in age, why add this family as a statistic? Please have mercy on this poor lady who is already living the ultimate loss. Linda Allphin Medford
