Kimberly Nicole Davis, 30, of Grants Pass, was hired by Aspire in March and worked as a direct support professional assisting clients in the organization's supported living program, Southern Oregon Aspire Executive Director Marie Hill said. Her duties included helping the clients with transportation, grocery shopping, medical appointments, balancing their checkbooks and more. Court documents name seven alleged victims, and the total amount stolen is believed to be more than $3,000. A probable-cause affidavit filed with the court states that Davis admitted to using three of the victims' credit cards several times at Walmart since mid-August, including purchases of $80.41 on Sept. 27 and $64.94 on Oct. 6. The transactions were caught on video by Walmart's surveillance cameras. The charging document alleges there are other thefts dating back to early June. Hill said Aspire has already paid back the victims for their losses. Any restitution resulting from the criminal case will go to the organization. "Because she was an employee of ours at the time it happened, those people have already been fully reimbursed," she said. The case came to light after Aspire employees found some out-of-place financial transactions. "We do reconciliations," Hill said. "The staff who was doing reconciliations noticed something that looked odd." Davis underwent a background check before she was hired, and the check didn't reveal any red flags, Hill said.
