Games of the week: Reader Mail for: Playstation and N64 By Chip and Jonathan Carter Tribune Media Services Back to the mailbag! HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : Anything yet on Beetle Adventure Racing (N64). We're dying out here... -- Thomas Elvington, Stovington, Vt. TOM : As a matter of fact: In the one-player championship mode, while you're racing on the Coventry track, try this: Find the shortcut that involves a barn and two haystacks. Drive into the haystack closest to the road. You'll hit a box and hear an announcer say "groovy." After the race, go to the options menu and you'll find a new choice: "Cheats". HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : Abe's Exoddus [PlayStation] is giving me headaches. Got anything on this one? -- Ronnie Crowe, Franklin, Ga. RONNIE : Hey, we're always here for you. Check out these great codes: At the main menu, hold R1 and then press Down, Up, Left, Right, Triangle, Square, O, Triangle, Square, O, Down, Up, Left, Right for a level select. For invincibility, hold R1 while you're playing, then push O, Triangle, Square, X, Down, Down, Down, O, Triangle, Square, X. HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : My friends and me have been playing BattleTanx [N64] long enough to wear it out. Do you have any codes that'll make it fun again? -- Craig Ricciardi, Largo, Fla. CRAIG : BattleTanx Bonus? You better believe it, big boy (how's that for alliteration!). We do have some codes that'll breathe new life into your gaming experience. Try these at the Input Code screen: CRSTLCLR -- invisibility; FRGZ -- plague of frogs; LTSLTSGNGS -- unlock gangs in campaign mode; MSTSRVV -- invincibility! TDZ -- Queen Lords become toads; WMNRSMRTR -- unlock Storm Ravens gang. HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : Can you give me any help on A Bug's Life for Game Boy Color? Please! -- Chelsea Kim, Tampa, Fla. CHELSEA : Well, since you said please ... OK. Try these passwords: Level 1 Bonus Round -- BL26; Level 2 -- 9LKK; 3 -- 5P9K; 4 -- 6652; 5 -- BKK2; 6 -- 2PLB; 7 -- 6562; 8 -- L59B. HEY CHIP & JONATHAN : In a recent article, your response to John Green about Zelda 64 [re: the big bomb bag] was wrong! You get the bomb bag inside Dodongo's Cavern. When you stop the rolling guy, he'll just say, "Don't stop me now!" If you had a bomb bag, he'd give you a bomb bag upgrade. And to play the bombachu bowling game, you also need the bomb bag. If you go without one, the lady will say, "Oh, we're closed now. Come back later." To get inside the cavern, leave Goran City and turn at the first right. When you get there, there is a guy and a lone bomb flower. You can talk to the guy and he'll tell you about the cavern or bomb flowers. You have to grab the flower with the Goran Bracelet and throw the bomb over the ledge. Down below is the rock blocking the entrance. If you throw it down at the right place, it'll blow up the rock and you can walk right in. -- Jonathan D., Via the Internet JONATHAN : Whoops! You're right, of course. We got so deep in Zelda that we got ahead of ourselves with our advice. Thanks for setting us straight. By the way, one of us really likes your name.
