PUBLIC SAFETY Man ignites fire with cigarette while siphoning gas in Eagle Point Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 26, 2016 at 9:13 AM Posted Feb. 26, 2016 at 9:13 AM » Social News A man was taken to the hospital with burns on his leg following a fire that destroyed two vehicles in Eagle Point Thursday night. The fire was reported at 9:19 p.m. in the 10000 block of Highway 62, according to Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon dispatch logs. Jackson County Fire District No. 3 said the man was siphoning gas out of one of his vehicles to put into another vehicle when a lit cigarette set off the gasoline and burned his leg. The blaze also damage a carport, but no flames spread beyond the vehicles, which fire officials said are total losses. District 3 responded with two engines. The man was transported to a local hospital.
