The pope referred to the pay gap as a “pure scandal,” and added that the push for “women’s emancipation” is not the culprit for declining marriage rates worldwide. SURVEY SAYS According to a recent Pew Research Center poll, the majority of evangelical Protestants (71 percent), white mainline Protestant (66 percent) and white Catholics (63 percent) are in favor of the death penalty. As for the religiously unaffiliated, 48 percent are in favor, while 45 percent are opposed to the death penalty.
