ROADWORK Northbound beams being set at I-5's exit 24 tonight Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Dec. 2, 2014 at 5:22 PM Posted Dec. 2, 2014 at 5:22 PM » Social News Northbound Interstate 5 traffic will be detoured over exit 24's off and on ramps tonight and Wednesday night while crews lay the final 19 beams for the exit's new bridge. Construction will begin at 10 p.m. and go until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3. Crews will continue the work 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday into Thursday, Dec. 4. The beams being set each weigh 34 tons, are 84 feet long and 33 inches tall. The new bridge built over the beams will have two lanes in each direction with sidewalks and bike lanes. The project is part of the total $72 million Fern Valley interchange project, which will feature the state's first diverging diamond interchange design.
