Steven Nori, 36, and Christopher Nori, 33, firefighters from Daly City, Calif., were lodged in San Mateo County Jail on multiple theft-related charges. Bail was set at $250,000 each. Oregon State Police detectives on Thursday served a search warrant at a home, garage and barn on 80 acres owned by the brothers at 17631 Highway 66, 24 miles east of Ashland, said Detective Dave Beck of the Oregon State Police. Beck said officers found a flatbed truck, a tractor and several rifles. He said they also found a dozen fire hoses, hose nozzles and couplers, water packs and fire department clothing and dress uniforms missing from Bay Area fire departments. The truck and tractor were taken from a Bay Area rental company, said Sgt. Jason Rucker of the Brisbane Police Department. One of the guns was an M-16 automatic rifle also stolen from the police department, he said. Advertisement More fire equipment and rifles were found in three other search warrants served Thursday in Daly City, Rucker said. He said the stolen items appear to have been taken between January 2003 and January 2004. Steven Nori is a firefighter for the Daly City fire department, while his brother is employed by the Fremont fire department. The brothers also worked on the side installing electronic equipment in vehicles, Beck said, a service they performed for several Bay Area police and fire departments. "They had access to a lot of restrictive areas," he said. Beck said the brothers were arrested more than two months ago for possessing a stolen piece of equipment that splits wood. They were put on administrative leave at their respective fire departments as the investigation continued. OSP detectives also are continuing their investigation and plan to submit the case to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges against the brothers.
