Hot Days But even at 98, Sunday's temperature missed old record Sunday's heat fell short of setting any records, but forecasters expect the warm spell to continue through midweek. Sunday's 98-degree afternoon came close, but only because the record temperature for Sept. 12 is an even 100. Most of the record highs for mid-September fall in the 102- to 103-degree range, said Roger Gerig, of the National Weather Service's Medford station. Gerig said afternoon highs should continue in the 90s through at least Wednesday before falling back into the 80s for the second half of the week. Nineties could be the rule again by next weekend. There's no rain forecast. "We can put up with that," he said, "because we know that (winter) fog's a-comin." Mail Tribune Copyright   The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
