The junior went 3-for-4, scored twice and drove in five runs in the Pirates’ 9-3 win over Hidden Valley. "All three balls that he hit were hit hard and in the right spot," Phoenix coach Joe Hagler said. "He’s really been coming around of late." Walker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning and, after the Mustangs tied the game at 1-1, he hit the first of two RBI doubles. The second came in the bottom of the sixth, giving Phoenix two more insurance runs. Jason Lockett helped his own cause on the mound by batting 2-for-4. Lockett scattered nine hits over six innings before Walker came in for an inning of relief. "After a few errors in the first inning, we settled down and played some good defense," Hagler said. "What really helped us was being able to throw out a few base runners, especially from the outfield." Advertisement Hidden Valley stayed in the game with some power hitting from Phillip Pyle and Will Dillon. Each went 2-for-4 from the plate, with Dillon hitting a home run. The win gives Phoenix a 3-0 start to Skyline Conference play after starting the season 1-4.
