Gold Beach woman swept off jetty found dead Karen Marie Dunlap Friday Oct 20, 2017 at 4:51 PM Oct 20, 2017 at 6:35 PM The body of a Gold Beach resident who was swept off a jetty by a large wave at the mouth of the Rogue River Thursday night was found midday Friday. Karen Marie Dunlap, 57, was found in the Rogue River near the sand spit at the mouth of the river at 11:18 a.m., according to a news release from Oregon State Police. People in the area found her body and reported it to law enforcement. Dunlap was last seen on the south jetty at 6:15 p.m. Thursday. The U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon State Police, Gold Beach police and Curry County Sheriff's Department initiated a search but had to call it off at 10 p.m. due to hazardous conditions.
