He was born January 24, 1939 to Lester and Grace Setzer in Gilman, Colo. They moved to Prospect, Oregon in 1945 living in Skeeter's Camp until he graduated Prospect High School in 1956. Jim joined the United States Marine Corps in 1956 serving four years on active duty. He worked for State Highway in Prospect, Ore. and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation Highway painting crew traveling all over the state, camping with his crew and family. Jim owned and operated the Prospect Cafe and Lounge with his former wife, Shirley Setzer. He also owned and operated A&S Rock Crushing. For some time he lived in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 1980s. Later, he moved back to Oregon and retired from Jessup Millworks in White City. In recent years, he retired and settled in Butte Falls. He is survived by his companion, Nancy Kelley of Butte Falls, Ore.; daughter, Teresa Boyd (Tony) of Rogue River, Ore.; son, Barry Setzer (Terri) of Moab, Utah; stepson, Cody Kelley of Butte Falls, Ore.; elder brother, Hal Setzer (Lynne) of Florence, Ore.; and younger brother, Ernie Setzer (Vickie) of Klamath Falls, Ore. He was preceded in death by his elder brother, Keith Setzer and his parents, Lester and Grace Setzer. Jim will be remembered most of all for his quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved mushroom hunting, watching game shows, and reading a good book. He will be missed by family and friends who loved him dearly. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at The Gorge Lounge Banquet Room Prospect, Ore. Everyone is welcome!
