Colleen Macuk, director of Jackson County Animal Care and Control, said Jack is still at the vet’s office. "We’re still trying to find a home for him," she said. Advertisement Jack was rescued from a roadside ditch after being struck Aug. 8 by a car on Old Stage Road. The owners of the young 60- pound Rottweiler-Doberman mix never came forward, and veterinarians at Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center performed surgeries that saved his life, with the help of donations of more than $5,000 from the community. Macuk said because Jack has three broken legs still healing, he needs an experienced dog person who can supervise his play time to adopt him, and he needs to be an only dog, she said.
