That isn’t the only news that excites Brett, the vice president of Table Rock Sports Productions. Local media outlets, including his website, are prepared to roll out in-depth coverage of football this fall. On the airwaves this season will be a prep football game of the week on KISS (107.5-FM), along with pregame and postgame radio shows. Long-standing radio coverage of several local high school football teams ended in 2013 because of various setbacks and remained that way until this year. Table Rock partnered with Bicoastal Media to resurrect radio broadcasts, which now will feature either a North Medford or South Medford game every week aside from the Crater at Eagle Point game on Oct. 16. Bicoastal market manager Bill Ashenden helped lead the charge, Brett said. Michael Campbell will have the play-by-play for broadcasts, which begin at 6:55 p.m. following a live pregame show called the Friday Night Tailgate Show, hosted by Skymind. The pregame show starts at 6 p.m., with opportunities to win prizes by tuning in. Brent Barry will be the color commentator. “It’s going to be very professional,” Brett said. The first radio game of the week will be Sunset at South Medford on Sept. 4. North Medford’s home contest versus Canby is the next radio broadcast, followed by Willamette at South Medford on Sept. 18. Playoff coverage is also planned. The in-game coverage will be loaded with updates on other games, Brett said, with a production team monitoring social media and retrieving reports, final scores and statistics from around the area. The station reaches as far as Josephine County and carries a very strong signal, Brett adds. Radio personality Gemineye will be at each game of the week for a halftime show, with prize giveaways and contests on site. Five Bicoastal stations, including KISS, will also do one-minute local sports updates on Mondays and Fridays. “We hope to serve the entire region,” Brett said. On television, Table Rock Sports will produce the Friday Night Football show on KTVL (Channel 10) that will air around 11:10 p.m. The expanded segment will be hosted by former local TV sportscasters Brett and Tom Ersepke, along with KTVL’s Aaron Nilsson, and will feature appearances from coaches and players. Brett, the longtime voice of South Medford, will step outside of the broadcast booth this fall to focus his efforts on the TV show and behind-the-scenes work with Table Rock Productions. Replacing Brett is Joe Camarlinghi, who had called Comets games the last two seasons for the website. Joining Camarlinghi in the booth will be Jesse Douglas. “I feel like (Camarlinghi) can step in and pick up right where I left off,” Brett says. On the Internet, tablerocksports.net has transitioned from using iHigh.com to new video partner Stretch Internet. Southern Oregon University athletics also uses Stretch. Table Rock will continue to provide live video broadcasts of North Medford, South Medford, Grants Pass, Crater and Eagle Point. Table Rock — which first began experimenting with streaming video in 2012 — began using Stretch last spring. The free broadcasts feature HD-quality video and a scoreboard. Games are also archived. “Every type of phone, every type of tablet, every type of provider, the broadcast is clean with Stretch,” Brett says. “There are no national ads. It is a much more user-friendly experience. You just turn it on and see a 30-second message from a top sponsor and then you can watch live, fast-forward and rewind. We were frustrating viewers with inconsistent mobile service and all that has been rectified. “Football season sets the tone for the whole school year. We want to come out and show people our best.” Demi DeSoto will head up the North Medford videocasts, joined by Chris Janisch and newcomer Tyler Saty. Jack Cosgrove moves from the Panther coverage team to lead the Crater videocasts. Meanwhile, former Medford sports voice Jay Reese returns to the Rogue Valley to call Grants Pass games for Table Rock. He will be joined by Chris Phillips and newcomer Lincoln Beck. Combinations of all those announcers will also videocast boys and girls soccer and volleyball during the fall. The website features around 465 live broadcasts each year. Brett says Table Rock is also working with schools to use the website as a forum to showcase other school activities and projects. Other high schools will also receive local media coverage. St. Mary’s home games can be heard on ESPN (580-AM) or KCMX (880-AM). The Crusaders’ road game at Creswell is on ESPN at 6:45 p.m. on Sept. 4. Max Milander will have the call. Cascade Christian football games can be heard on KDOV (91.67-FM), with a pregame show beginning approximately 20 minutes before kickoff. At Ashland, live video, audio and statistics can be seen at ashlandfootballclub.com . Tune in about 15 minutes before kickoff. As for Brett? He’s not retiring from broadcasting. “I have not done my last South Medford game,” he said. “I’ll fill in and do some basketball games. I’ll still have a hand in Panther broadcasts.” For more information, visit tablerocksports.net or contact Brett at 541-621-7036 or email [email protected].
