Terry Allison, chancellor of Indiana University South Bend, will visit the campus Wednesday and Thursday. Finalist Michael Tidwell, dean of the College of Business at Eastern Michigan University, visited May 25-26. The third candidate will be on campus Thursday and Friday, but SOU officials have been withholding names until 24 hours before the finalists' visit to help protect them from adverse publicity at home. The three were chosen after a nationwide search by a committee composed of trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, students and members of the public. Allison holds a doctorate in literature from University of California, San Diego; a master’s degree in comparative literature, also from UCSD; a master’s degree in library and information science from University of California, Berkeley; and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science, also from UC Berkeley. Prior to his role as chancellor, Allison held various positions in higher education teaching and administration, including provost and vice president of academic affairs at Governors State University in Illinois; dean of the College of Arts and Letters at California State University, Los Angeles; and numerous faculty appointments. The public will have an opportunity to meet and ask questions of Allison during an open forum at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Room 151 of the Science Building at SOU, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.
