Fixing Highway 42 after massive landslide could take months Comment Posted Dec. 29, 2015 at 10:49 am Updated Dec 29, 2015 at 10:54 AM EUGENE — Oregon officials say it may take several months to repair the road damage caused by a giant landslide at the Douglas and Coos county line. The Register-Guard reports that Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Jared Castle says the Dec. 23 slide cracked and shifted the pavement on Highway 42. He says it left 200,000 to 300,000 cubic yards of debris. One lane could be reopened to traffic in next few weeks, but it will be several months before all the damage can be fixed. Castle says ODOT crews was set to start clearing the roadway on Tuesday morning. He says there may be more need for weather-related roadwork in the next few months. — Associated Press Information from: The Register-Guard, http://bit.ly/1Sl151h The Oregon Department of Transportation shared this aerial video of the slide on Monday, Dec. 28.
