Ashland man held in shooting Gabriel N. Stevens Friday Mar 30, 2018 at 2:25 PM Mar 30, 2018 at 5:39 PM An Ashland man is being held in the Jackson County Jail after allegedly shooting a man with a gun he thought was not loaded. Gabriel N. Stevens, 21, of Corral Lane, faces charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and recklessly endangering another person. He is scheduled to appear April 5 in Jackson County Circuit Court. Stevens allegedly pointed a loaded gun at Charles Blair-Barnett Wednesday and pulled the trigger. Blair-Barnett was shot in the torso and seriously injured, according to a probable cause affidavit. Stevens believed the gun wasn’t loaded, the affidavit said. Stevens had the gun in violation of a restraining order that prohibited him from possessing a firearm, the affidavit said. He remained lodged in jail on $107,500 bail Friday, according to jail records.
