Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 15, 2005 Since You Asked Hammers can bang at 7 a.m. We live in the Eagle Trace subdivision where there is a house being built in our cul-de-sac. The construction crew starts at 7 a.m. with the noise of hammers, etc., including a radio playing music at full volume. Are there any rules against this noise, as some of us would like to sleep later than 7 a.m.? Thank you for your response. — Linda C., Medford We have some disappointing news for you here, Linda: The city ordinance is on the workers’ side. According to the Medford city code: "no person shall make, continue, cause or permit to be made or continued any noise disturbance ... (including) alteration, demolition, erection or repair of any structure between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. If someone is violating the city code, call 770-4783, and an officer will come out to warn them and even issue a citation if the person persists. You can see the ordinance for yourself at www.ci.medford.or.us . Click on "municipal code" and go to section 5.225 — unnecessary noise.
