Teen dies from apparent gunshot wound By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 27, 2021 11:36 AM A A Authorities are investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy who appears to have died from a gunshot wound to the head, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday. At about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a call in the 600 block of Netherlands Road east of Trail and Shady Cove. They arrived to find the teen deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office. No charges have been filed at this time and all involved parties are cooperating with authorities, the sheriff’s office said. Sheriff’s office detectives are investigating and have called out the Major Assault Death Investigation Unit. Assisting agencies include investigators from the Oregon State Police, the Medford Police Department and the Jackson County District Attorney’s office. Next of kin for the victim has not been located. This is an active ongoing investigation and no further information is being released at this time, the sheriff’s office said.
