Oregon Zoo: It's A Boy! By Teresa Standstipher Aug 10, 2020 11:42 AM A A Mei Mei is a 4-year-old red panda living at the Oregon Zoo. She gave birth last month and the baby had its first health check-up confirming...it’s a boy! The 6-week-old red panda had a complete physical exam...weighing a mere 2.5 lbs. Red Pandas are on the endangered species list. Populations have declined by 50% within the last 20 years. Although they share a name with giant pandas, red pandas are the only species left in the Ailuridae family. An estimate of no more than 10,000 are left in the wild. Oregon Zoo: It's A Boy!
