Lauryl (Brand) Lockewood Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jun. 23, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Jun. 23, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News Our dear and beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter, and friend of many, Lauryl (Brand) Lockewood, 27, passed away in a car accident the afternoon of June 17, 2016, on the Greensprings Hwy, Ashland, Ore. Lauryl was born at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital July 3, 1988 to Sandra Brand of Ashland and Donevician (Brand) Dreamus who lived in Grants Pass until he passed away January of 2016. Lauryl and her three siblings all attended and graduated Ashland schools. Lauryl has had a variety of jobs, and thrived in the area of caregiving. She is a caregiver at heart, having brought comfort and friendship to many. Her dream was to finish school and become a nurse. Lauryl was working for Jackson County, enjoying the happiness of registering couples for marriage licenses. Loving and respecting animals, Lauryl was a committed vegan who advocated a vegan diet; teaching others how to prepare delicious meals that avoid causing suffering to animals in any way. Lauryl was a very talented artist. She played several instruments, including guitar and drums, and had a sweet singing voice. Lauryl loved her friends and family, and always considered the feelings and wishes of others before her own. She was a light in the world that went out much too soon. Surviving family members are her mother, Sandra Brand; sister, Ariel Brand; brothers, Gabe and Ryan Youtsey (formerly known as Brand); her grandmother, Jeri Capuzo who was very close to her; her aunt and uncle, Robin and Trent Stoy; and many other aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. We miss her terribly but are so blessed that she was part of our family. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Lithia Park between the Sycamore Grove and the Japanese Garden. Please come and share your good memories of this amazing girl. Her brother, Gabe (Brand) Youtsey will be leading the memorial. If you would like to make a contribution in Lauryl’s memory, an account has been created that will help pay for funeral and memorial costs, as well as donate to her favorite animal charity.
