Four vie for three Eagle Point council seats William Fierke, Michael Stanek, Aaron Prunty, James Mannenbach Saturday Oct 29, 2016 at 1:02 PM Oct 29, 2016 at 1:06 PM The following are candidates for three seats on the Eagle Point City Council. All the positions are four-year terms. Ballots were mailed Oct. 21 and are due by 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, to the Jackson County Elections Office, 1101 W. Main St., Medford, or one of the 24-hour drop boxes outside libraries in Eagle Point, Ashland, Rogue River and Central Point. William Fierke Age: 72 Occupation: Retired Education: Bachelor's in business Political experience: Eagle Point city councilor since 2011, 2010 Eagle Point Budget Committee, City Administrator Search Committee in Eagle Point and in Owatonna, Minnesota, General Advisory Committee for Community Colleges in Minnesota Top priorities: 1) Prioritizing Eagle Point's infrastructure and safety needs with available funds while maintaining a balanced budget. 2) Balancing growth and development while maintaining the city's historic values and small-town appeal. James Mannenbach Age: 34 Occupation: Physical therapist Education: Doctor of physical therapy Political experience: Economic Development Commission and Planning Commission member, former Parks and Recreation Commission member Top priorities: As a lifelong resident of Eagle Point and now raising my own family in this community, I am committed to further developing community livability while balancing the city's financial resources. We must keep Eagle Point's strong community heritage, preserve our outdoor spaces and develop new facilities for our growing town. At the same time we have to do this while being responsible with the taxpayers' money. Aaron Prunty Age: 44 Occupation: City administration Education: Bachelor of Arts in political science Political experience: Eagle Point City Council, Eagle Point Parks and Recreation Commission, Eagle Point Budget Committee, Rogue Valley Council of Governments Metropolitan Planning Organization Public Advisory Council Top priorities: My top priorities are economic development, facilitating development of affordable housing, livable communities and providing opportunities for kids. I'd like to make Eagle Point a community where all services are within walking distance, people can age in their homes, people don't have to drive to another city for work and kids feel safe and have things to do after school. Michael Stanek Age: 42 Occupation: Quality management Education: South Medford High Class of 1992; Rogue Community College, mathematics and German language; Villanova University, Six Sigma Green Belt Political experience: Vice chair, Eagle Point Parks and Recreation Commission; member of Eagle Point Budget Committee and RVMPO Public Advisory Council; president, McLoughlin Meadows Homeowners' Association Top priorities: My priorities if elected would be to contribute to the already well established council with efforts to maintain and continuously improve the city of Eagle Point. In order to do so, we need to promote residential growth and new business. I intend to listen to the community concerns and act accordingly as well as support our law enforcement, public works and city officials. Together, we can continue to have one of the greatest places to live in Southern Oregon.
