Brian Keith Leary, 47, faces charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $750,000 bail. Leary allegedly stabbed David Stuart Walden, 53, after getting into an argument with him. Leary was arrested the day of the incident, according to an affidavit. Walden was taken by ambulance to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford. Information about Walden's injuries was not available. Leary could face at least seven years and six months in prison on the first-degree assault charge and five years and 10 months in prison on the second-degree assault charge under Oregon's Measure 11, which sets mandatory minimum sentences for certain crimes.
