According to a press release from the school district, school officials and Medford police officers have determined the threat was "non-credible." The release said the student wrote Thursday on an events calendar posted inside one of the boys’ bathrooms at South Medford that a school shooting would take place Jan. 27. He then took a photo of the message and posted it on the social network Snap Chat, the release said. School officials said a student who received the message on Snap Chat took a screen shot of the image and shared it with a teacher this morning. A school-based Medford police school resource officer talked with the reporting student, who identified the alleged perpetrator. According to the release, the officer questioned the suspected student, who admitted to posting the message, but said his actions were intended as a joke. Police arrested the student for disorderly conduct two hours after the report was made, the release said. School and police officials are planning to hold a press conference on the issue at 4 p.m. today.
