IN'TER, a Latin preposition, signifying among or between; used as a prefix. INTER', verb transitive [Latin terra, the earth.] 1. To bury; to deposit and cover in the earth; as, to inter a dead animal body. 2. To cover with earth. But it is used almost exclusively to denote the depositing and covering of dead animal bodies.
