ulture is defined and reflected by community. This
sense of community is beautifully illustrated in our Summer Brochure. Russell James, photographer
nd friend, captures not only the outer beauty of the women wearing Urban Zen, but also the cultural
soul of the women and their heritage. Entering the Urban Zen store - where there is a diverse
selection of products from handcrafted Senegalese accessories to Balinese furniture made by
craftsmen from fallen teak - is experiencing a new sense of community where culture, fashion and
philanthropy mesh.
The Hamptons is a part of my community. Thirteen years ago, I reached out to the fashion
community to come together and raise funding for ovarian cancer by creating "Super Saturday" in
the Hamptons. My dear friend Liz Tilberis and I started Super Saturday thirteen years ago when Liz
was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I can't tell you how moving it is for me to bring the fashion
community together and be embraced by the Hamptons community for such an important purpose.
This year is even more poignant with the first Urban Zen tent and my personal commitment to
healing the Hamptons. I am pleased to continue our close partnership with Rodney Yee, Colleen
Seidman Yee and Yoga Shanti. They will be on hand at Super Saturday with many of the Urban Zen
Integrative Therapists (UZITs) to offer their skills to our guests. And now, I'm thrilled to include
Southampton Hospital as part of the Urban Zen community. Our UZITs have been volunteering their
integrative skills in the hospital's dialysis and ambulatory departments. Ellen's Run, another great
Hampton's summer event, also brings together the community to help raise funds for Southampton
Hospital's Ellen Hermanson Breast Center.
Please stop by and be a part of our community.
