Despite significant progress in electric vehicles, power batteries and charging infrastructure, the industry still faces substantial challenges regarding pollution, water- and land-use change throughout its value chain. Among the much needed actions, particular attention and effort should be paid to land use and biodiversity assessments, as well as the circularity of materials.
