Insights to inform future efforts From a platform design and governance perspective, several key insights emerged. These insights are summarized from post-session participant surveys, insight interviews with partners and published research on XR interaction. These lessons remain highly applicable for future initiatives exploring immersive, cross-sector collaboration at scale. Representing data and scenarios in three dimensions helps users grasp abstract or complex problems faster. Immersive layouts enhance memory, reduce time to insight and improve alignment among diverse stakeholders.Spatial formats accelerate understanding Displaying geographic, temporal and sectoral data together exposes hidden interconnections – such as between climate shocks, infrastructure strain and economic impact – supporting faster, more integrated decision-making.Layered data reveals systems thinking Real-time scenario planning and hands-on engagement improve comprehension, retention and decision-making confidence. People understand more when they explore actively – not just observe.Simulation and interaction unlock insight Blending digital and physical convening creates more flexibility, deepens engage- ment and supports continuity across formats. Immersive platforms add the most value when they extend – rather than replace – human interaction.Hybrid participation outperforms fully virtual formats Embedding data in human- centred or place-based settings makes abstract information emotionally resonant. When people see how issues connect to lived experience, they engage more deeply and act with greater urgency.Relevance drives empathy and action Equitable participation depends on supporting a wide range of devices, bandwidths and user abilities. Inclusive design expands global access and avoids replicating existing digital divides.Inclusion requires intentional design Partners consistently valued the Village as a space to explore emerging technologies. The ability to test, iterate and learn in a low-risk, high-trust environment strengthens relationships and builds institutional readiness for future innovation.Safe experimentation builds trusted partnerships Reimagining Collaboration in XR: Lessons from the Global Collaboration Village 6
