–FDA authorized the updated mRNA COVID -19 vaccines for use in persons ages 6
months –11 years under emergency use authorizations (EUAs)
–FDA approved the updated mRNA COVID -19 vaccines in persons ages ≥ 12 years
under supplemental biologics license applications (BLAs)
▪September 12, 2023
–ACIP voted to recommend vaccination with updated (2023 –2024 Formula) COVID -19
vaccines as authorized under EUA or approved by BLA in persons aged ≥6 months
▪October 3, 2023
–FDA authorized the updated (2023 –2024 Formula) Novavax COVID -19 vaccine for use
in persons aged ≥12 years under EUACOVID -19 vaccine updates
Note: Updated (2023 –2024 Formula) COVID -19 vaccines are monovalent vaccines containing an XBB.1.5 component
