Budget committee openings on agenda. By AMBER FOSSEN Ashland Daily Tidings Ashland School Board members will establish a process and deadline to appoint two budget committee positions tonight. According to district officials, the budget committee membership term for Carol Davis expired June 30 and member Howard Braham moved to Spokane, Wash., creating vacancies. Potential candidates will vie for a member position that expires June 30, 2005 and for another membership position that expires June 30, 2006. Loren Luman, Ashland School District business manager, said he is hopeful community members will step forward. "We had more people (come forward) than we had places last time so hopefully there will still be that interest," Luman said. Potential candidates must be registered voters in the ASD with at least one year's residency. Candidates cannot be an officer or employee of the ASD Budget Committee applicants are asked to submit a letter of application by 4 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the District Office at 885 Siskiyou Boulevard. Additional information can be obtained by calling 482-2811 between the 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The board will schedule a work session to meet with Budget Committee members. In other business, the board will examine enrollment figures for the 2003-04 school year. Luman said it is an annual discussion among board members. "Certainly the board wants to see what happens with enrollment," he said. "It's always of interest this time of year." The regularly scheduled board meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m., tonight, in the Ashland Council Chambers at 1175 East Main Street. A work session has been scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22 in the Ashland High School library to review board policy revisions.
