The Southern Oregon University Symphonic Band has approximately 50 to 75 instrumentalists from the university and local community. They perform a wide range of musical styles spanning the 16th through the 20th centuries. Under the direction of Cynthia Hutton, this ensemble performs a concert at the end of each school term in the Recital Hall. The concert will feature guest saxophone soloist Rhett Bender performing the “Concertino for Alto Saxophone and Band” by Jerry Bilik. In addition, the band will perform music for the festive season. Works include “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed, “Sketches on a Tudor Psalm” by Fisher Tull, “Toccata” by Girolamo Frescobaldi, “Pacem” by Robert Spittal and holiday favorites. Tickets for this performance are $8 for general admission, $6 for seniors and free to students.
