To be eligible for the honor, one must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 and at least sophomore academic standing. Representing the Raider women's track and field team were Aspen Abbott, Emily Lamb, Rebecca Lupescu, Anna Reitman and Jessie Rozario. The men's team was represented by five more: Caleb Diaz, Eric Ghelfi, Will Parke-Hoffman, Dylan Paulk and Matt Williams. Cheyenne Bricker, Alyssa Fielding, Alexa Gonzalez and Sydney White of the SOU softball team were recognized. In all, 234 CCC student-athletes made the spring team. College Football The Southern Oregon University football team on Friday will hold a Junior Day for 2016 high school graduates interested in the program. The event — which among other things will include a campus tour and overviews of the SOU offense, defense and strength and conditioning programs with coaches — begins with a noon check-in and will end after coaches meet recruits following the annual Raider Spring Game, which starts at 6 p.m. Those interested in attending Junior Day should email SOU defensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator Berk Brown at [email protected]. College Athletics Southern Oregon's Alexa Gonzalez and Danny Parks were voted Cascade Conference Red Lion Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Gonzalez won the softball award for the second time this season. The junior third baseman from Menifee, Calif., launched a three-run home run and had the go-ahead two-run single, all in the last two innings of SOU's 7-5 comeback win Friday over Concordia. Gonzalez's line of five homers, 30 RBI and a .357 average is up from zero homers, nine RBI and a .185 average last season. SOU finished the regular season 32-24 overall and 13-15 in the CCC, marking its winningest season since 2005. The Raiders will take the No. 5 seed into the CCC/Frontier Tournament, which will start with them taking on No. 4 Great Falls (Mont.) at 9 a.m. Friday in Klamath Falls. Parks, a senior from Eugene, didn't need a season-best at Lane Community College's Titan Twilight to collect a win in the discus. He threw 154 feet 3 inches — his best this season of 166-9 meets the NAIA 'A' standard — and also took sixth of 18 in the hammer with a personal-best mark of 151-4.
