MUSIC SOU keyboard student offers free community recital Master's completion event doubles as a thank-you to the community Comment By Local report DailyTidings.com By Local report Posted Jun. 1, 2016 at 6:46 PM By Local report Posted Jun. 1, 2016 at 6:46 PM » RELATED CONTENT • Quills & Queues: Concert aims to reunite mother and daughter... • VIDEO: Tatsiana Asheichyk • Soroptimist International of Ashland awards $38,900 in scholarships and grants... » Social News Southern Oregon University (SOU) graduate piano and organ student Tatsiana Asheichyk, who performed at Carnegie Hall as winner in the American Protégé International Romantic Music Competition in 2014, is performing her Master’s completion recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 3, at SOU’s music recital hall on Mountain Avenue. “My mother has never been to the United States, and she’s coming!” exclaimed Asheichyk. “My dear mom has not heard me play live during the six years I have been studying at SOU. I’m thrilled!” Asheichyk has been playing the piano since she was 5 years old. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the School of Music in Minsk, Belarus, and from the Brest State College of Music. Asheichyk completed her undergraduate studies with SOU’s Dr. Alexander Tutunov in 2014. Asheichyk is finishing her Master’s in Music Performance under Dr. Tutunov and Dr. Margaret Evans this June. She graduates officially on June 11. “Undoubtedly, Tatsiana is among the very top students of our institution,” said Tutunov. “Very gifted, very reliable, determined, and responsible. Tatsiana never fails to bring her best to every performance.” For her June 3 graduate recital, Asheichyk will perform on both pipe organ and piano. The concert program includes works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Chopin and others. Dr. Tutunov will perform the orchestral reduction on the second piano for the Camille Saint-Saëns’ fifth piano concerto. “I have the greatest fondness for people in the Rogue Valley, who have been remarkably kind and supportive,” said Asheichyk. “My graduate keyboard recital is a big thank-you to my community.” The graduate keyboard recital is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 3 in the Music Recital Hall on the SOU campus. Parking is available on Mountain Avenue across from the music building. Refreshments and an opportunity to meet Asheichyk will follow.
